Downtown Austin is experiencing an explosion of growth, as there is a large push to increase the population density within the actual city by several thousand in the coming years. To meet this demand, many mixed-used projects as well as high-rise condominiums are being planned and constructed every day. Projects range from the W hotel and condos to The Four Seasons Condominiums to the 21c Museum residences.
The typical downtown resident is anything but, as Austin attracts people for a million different reasons, but those who live downtown all seem to seek an active urban lifestyle. With so many options for living, it is hard to capture the downtown essence in only a few sentences, but a unique place can be found from anywhere between $200,000 to well over $1,000,000.
The University of Texas campus is located just North of the Capitol, and as one of the largest and most prolific schools in the United States it brings vibrancy and intellectual thought to the city. West Campus, home to a majority of students, and the section of Guadalupe Street West of campus, referred to as "The Drag", is a great place to go and feel young again. The campus is a must-see for anyone visiting Austin, and when UT wins a big sports game, the UT Tower is lit a bright orange for the whole city to enjoy.
